During 2025 our hiking group went on 102 hikes for a total of about 443 miles, almost identical, within 2 miles, of last year’s results.
During January through March we saw ice on the Potomac River near Fort Washington, celebrated George Washington’s birthday At Mount Vernon, and spotted a Bald Eagle feeding its chick at Lake Accotink.
In April, May, and June we hiked along Holmes Run, saw muskrats at the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk, and went for a sultry hike in Prince William Forest Park.
In late Summer and early Fall we enjoyed the lotuses and waterlilies at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, hiked at Occoquan Regional Park, and toured the fountains and gardens on the National Mall in Washington DC.
As late Fall and Winter arrived, we hiked in Shenandoah National Park, enjoyed the Fall leaves at Brookside Gardens, and revisited Washington DC to see the Christmas Trees.
Another great year of hiking!
